A feisty Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) appeared on CNN with host Kate Bolduan to discuss President Trump’s immigration policy amid the recent controversy over migrant children being separated from their families. Graham suggested that “people are gonna be less likely to bring their kids to America if they get separated,” however he says he’s disappointed that Trump said he won’t support an immigration compromise currently in the House.
Graham: “Let’s not talk about parents being separated from their children because they commit crimes. That happens every day. What I’d like to do is have a rational, legal immigration system so people don’t come here illegally.”
Bolduan: “The President says he thinks it’s horrible, he says he thinks it’s horrible that children and parents are being separated.”
Graham: “Always it’s horrible – it’s horrible when somebody goes to jail, with children.”
Bolduan: “Is this unnecessary?”
Graham: “You know what would be necessary would be to fix it. I’m disappointed that the President said he wouldn’t support the house bill.”
Graham then suggested that Trump’s hard-line immigration policies would deter illegal immigration.
“I’m sure that people are gonna be less likely to bring their kids to America if they get separated, than if they live together and get released into the country.“

President Trump on Friday said that he wouldn’t sign a recent immigration bill circulating in the House, telling Fox and Friends that he wouldn’t sign a “moderate” piece of border legislation.
“I’m looking at both of them. I certainly wouldn’t sign the more moderate one,” Trump said. “I need a bill that gives this country tremendous border security. I have to have that. We have to get rid of catch-and-release.”
“We catch a criminal, a real criminal, a rough, tough, criminal. We take his name and then we release him. And we say please to show up to court in a couple of months. You know what the chances of getting him to court are? Like zero. OK? It’s crazy,” the President said.
